Membership has its Privileges

Ciel Club

A newcomer to the extremely high-end luxury market, the Ciel Club, created by AmeriTrade founder Joe Ricketts, has many unique attributes. Its $1 million membership deposit is fully refundable, there is a 100-member cap, the club is invitation-only and the homes have an average value of $10 million. Still, it doesn't want to be known as just another destination club. Instead, it prefers to call itself an "experience club"-a deserving title considering the unique members'-only adventures it offers. For example, members can experience the life of a professional cyclist riding in the Tour de France. The goal: climb Mont Ventoux-one of the few mountains Lance Armstrong never won-three times from different approaches. Riders will be pushed and pampered for nine days to accomplish a feat few can brag about.
